Dispatch Estimates

At Streetshirts, the general principle is:

If we have the item in the building, we'll dispatch it the same day.

Below is a further explanation as to how our dispatch estimates (which form the basis of our On Time Guarantee) are calculated. These are shown in your basket before you order and are confirmed on your order acknowledgement email.

We operate an automated stock tracking system to keep track of the the 1000s of permutations of garment that we supply. The computer system uses the rules below to set the estimated dispatch date. Where we speak about out of stock, this means that the item is either not stocked in the colour/size chosen or it is stocked but all the ones we have been allocated to other customers.

When you add items into your basket, your order falls into one of 4 groups, each with a corresponding dispatch estimate.

  1. All of the order is IN STOCK, time is BEFORE 2pm

    Dispatch estimate is set as TODAY

  2. All of the order is IN STOCK, time is AFTER 2pm

    Dispatch estimate is set as TOMORROW (If after 2pm on a Friday then dispatch will be Monday)

  3. Order is NOT IN STOCK, time is BEFORE 3:45pm

    Dispatch estimate is set as TOMORROW (If before midnight on a Saturday then dispatch will be Monday)

  4. Order is NOT IN STOCK, time is AFTER 3:45pm

    Dispatch estimate is set as THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. (If after midnight on Saturday then dispatch will be Tuesday)

What happens if my order is not correct or not as I expected?

If the error is ours, we will reprint free of charge.

If the error is yours, we will reprint for 75% of the original amount.

Why does my print look small?

For a small number of orders we do receive queries regarding the sizing of the print on the shirt. With this, there are two things that we would ask you to check:

  1. When you designed the shirt online, the t-shirt you designed on was on a person, and therefore you were designing the shirt 'as worn'. As the shirt is on a person, viewed from the front, the edges of the shirt are not shown, as they are round the sides of the wearer. We find that some people compare the flat shirt they have received with the design they submitted online. As people aren't flat (and some of us are deeper than others) it's not comparing like with like to compare the shirts like this. If you try the shirt on and look in the mirror, you should find that your shirt matches the preview exactly.
  2. To make sure we deliver shirts that match the previews, and that we deliver exactly the same item again if you order another two years from now, all of the sizing is calculated automatically when you design online. This file is printed as-is to our machinery. We've recently updated our design software to show the size in cm before you order. The size shown is the size of the image uploaded, so if your image has large transparent areas that don't print, you can see the size of the print by drawing a box the size of the visible area (see screenshot below).

You might like to know for the future that if you want a print from edge to edge of the flat shirt, you can extend the artwork off the edge of the shirt as you design online. Bear in mind though, that the details at the edges will not be seen when the shirt is worn and the person wearing it is viewed from the front. It's for this reason our design works on an 'as-worn' basis.

(Although this image is scaled to 41cm, it's almost entirely transparent and the transparent parts won't print)

(To see the size of the print area, draw a box the same width as the non-transparent section (or visible image) and then select it for an accurate measurement)

(The same theory of empty space applies to text-boxes. The text box above is 27cm wide but the majority of it is empty.)

(To view the size of the text within, draw a box the same size as the text, and select it to view the measurement. Of course, if your text fills the textbox then the measurement of the textbox will also be the measurement of the text.)

My voucher seems to be invalid?

When using a promotional voucher or gift voucher on the streetshirts website, here are some important tips.

  1. You can only use one voucher per order
  2. The vouchers are invalidated the first time they are entered, so please only enter them when you are ready to check out.

What is your policy on returns?

We make all the shirts especially for you. As they are customised just for you, we cannot accept them for return unless they are faulty or your instructions have not been followed. We cannot re-sell your garment. Refunds will be made against the original form of tender.

The only exception is for single item orders which qualify for our "Absolute Satisfaction Guarantee". These items can be returned for any reason.

I expected the artwork to be a different size, can I return it?

The artwork is automatically generated from the design you provide, so the sizing is decided by you. The t-shirt designer shows the size of the print in cm so that you can see the print size before you buy.

We print it exactly as you design, and don't alter the sizing of your artowrk in any way. Please note that the top you design on is being worn, so the design area available is the normal visible area when worn. It would be very unusual to want text or images going round the side of the shirt.

Also, the women's longer length tops, as mentioned in the sizing FAQs, are designed to be tight and stretch around the body, so the designs will seem smaller before you put the shirt on.

The only exception is for single item orders which qualify for our "Absolute Satisfaction Guarantee". These items can be returned for any reason.

The image is pixelated, can I return it?

Unfortunately not. We print the image exactly as you give it to us, and if your image is not of a high quality that is a shame, but is ultimately down to you. Our process is automatic, and artwork doesn't get checked. Please see our FAQs on images for more information.

The only exception is for single item orders which qualify for our "Absolute Satisfaction Guarantee". These items can be returned for any reason.

Will my colour exactly match what I see online?

No, there will be differences. This is because monitors display colours using red, green and blue light (RGB), whereas printers use cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink (CYMK). To gain a more accurate preview of your file, try printing it out. Office and home printers also use CYMK, and this may allow you to see the final results more clearly.

The top isn't the colour I expected, can I return it?

If we have accidently sent you the wrong colour, you can absolutely return it and we will remake it for you. If we have sent you the colour you ordered, however, we cannot accept it for return as it is a bepoke item that has been made just for you. The colours on screen all have names which appear when you select them, and the colour is also written next to your shirt in your basket. Please do check these carefully, as colours can appear differently on different monitors.

The top is larger/smaller than I expected, can I return it?

If we have sent you the wrong size garment, we will absolutely remake it for you in the right size when you return it. If we have sent you the garment you ordered, we will not be able to accept it for return as we have made it just for you. We do provide sizing information on the site, which acts as a guide when choosing your size.

The only exception is for single item orders which qualify for our "Absolute Satisfaction Guarantee". These items can be returned for any reason.

My garment is faulty, how do I return it?

If you would like to return an item to us you can use the following steps:

  1. Submit a returns form here
  2. We will review your request within 24 business hours
  3. Package the merchandise to prevent damage, enclosing this completed form. Send the merchandise using registered post or other secure method of delivery, retaining the receipt until you have received credit for your return. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.

Please note that the return costs are not pre-paid. Postage or other return costs will be the customer's responsibility and will be reimbursed by us only in the case of damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied goods. In cases where we do refund return postage, we will only refund the cost of standard Royal Mail registered post. If you choose to use any enhanced return option, such as Special Delivery, this will be at your expense. You must return the goods, together with their packaging, in the same condition as supplied to you. Returns are sent at your risk.

What size shirt should I use?

We have provided you with detailed sizing information, based on information we have from our manufacturer. Please note that sizing guidance given next to the shirts is on a TO FIT basis, so the shirt will be larger than the actual measurement given.

The women's longer-length tops are VERY stretchy, and are designed to be very fitted (i.e. tight).

Their actual (unworn) measurements are significantly smaller than the same sizes in other tops

What do the sizing measurements mean?

The guidance measurements given next to the shirts are supposed to represent what size person they fit. They are not the actual measurements of the garment itself, which naturally need to be larger than the person they are designed to fit.

How do I wash my printed garments?

Firstly, please ignore the washing instructions in the garment itself. These are for a blank garment and not a printed one.

Wash your shirts at 40 degrees or less. Iron on reverse (cool). Do not tumble-dry.

Why is there a white box around my image? Will it show?

Short answer: Yes. Use a PNG with a transparent background instead.

Full answer:

If you upload an image with a background, it will appear on your shirt with a coloured or white box around it. Onto white t shirts, upto A3 in size, a white background will not show. Onto white polos or all coloured garments, whatever the size, this white or coloured surround will show.

To avoid printing the background, you will need to upload an image with a transparent background.

What you see in the basket is what will be printed.

Will my image print well?

We print the image exactly as you give it to us. If you have uploaded a high-quality image then it will print well. An image of 600 x 600 pixels should print fine up to A4 in size. (This information is contained within the properties of the image.) If you enlarge an image of low quality, with fewer than 600 x 600 pixels, then it will appear pixelated when printed out, even though it may look fine when placed on the shirt on your screen. Artwork is printed automatically - it will not be checked.

For best results upload a 600dpi PNG at the size you want it printed. Please note there is a file size limit of 20Mb.

How large can you print my image?

Images can be printed up to 35cm x 45cm and the designer won't allow you to exceed these dimensions. Sometimes you can add two or more images to the same garment.

What process do you use for printing images?

We use high-street quality industrial printers printers which print using ink to produce bright, crisp, vibrant and high-resolution prints. It is 100% toxin free and safe for children and infants. You can find our more on our 'Print Technology' page.

Will the colour look exactly as it does on my screen?

All monitors are different, and show colours differently, We have made sure that the difference between the colours is accurately reflected, but we cannot guarantee that the colour you see will be the same as the real life colour. It depends on your individual computer settings (brightness, contrast etc.). We do not offer a colour matching service.

Can I print white on white, black on black etc?

We print shirts exactly as ordered. If you place black text on a black shirt, even though it is unlikely to be visible, it will get printed. Artwork is printed automatically - it will not be checked.

Where are my exclamation marks (missing characters)?

Some fonts only have characters available for the letters, but nothing to represent the punctuation marks. When this is the case, you will just see a rectangular box, and you need to know this WILL be printed. If you do not want this box to appear, then delete the character, or you could try a different font. There are so many fonts to choose from, you are almost certain to find another that you like.

How does my artwork get sized?

What are the normal delivery times?

We try our best to get your order to you as soon as possible. After dispatch, our standard delivery (Royal Mail First Class) typically arrives the next day in the UK (but can take up to 7 days), in 6 days to the EU and 10 days worldwide. It is important to note that delivery times are out of our control, as we do not deliver the goods ourselves.

What's the difference between dispatch and delivery?

Dispatch refers to the period of time it takes for us to make your customised product and pass it to the postal service or courier for delivery.

This is different to the delivery time, which is how long the delivery service takes to get the package from our offices to your home.

How much do you charge for delivery?

Standard delivery to the UK is £3.99, economy is £2.99. Guaranteed day delivery options are available during checkout for an additional charge.

What do I do if my order hasn't arrived?

Whilst Royal Mail normally deliver all first class post within 1-2 working days, they can on occasion take longer. In the unlikely event that your goods do not arrive, allow 7 days before calling us. We cannot authorise any remakes before this time has passed as Royal Mail have been known to deliver within this time.

However, if you paid to have Express delivery, contact us immediately as we can provide you with the tracking reference to chase it with the carrier.
