Log shorts or short trousers

Over the years, fashion observers have watched shorts get longer and cropped trousers (or Capri pants) get shorter. At some time or another they would have to meet and this season they did. Capris have met shorts congenially at the knee and there they rest. Whether this new style is in fact very long shorts or very short trousers is an incidental question. They look great and still manage to be sexy without revealing too much skin.

It may be hard for some girls to give up their Daisy Dukes and granted, it can be weird at first to wear this length if you are not used to it, but the results are flattering to almost everybody. If you are not ready to go out and purchase one of these trendy pairs of short trousers, then take an old pair of pants and hem them so they reach the knee. If you are going for a more casual look you can even cut the trousers off to leave an imperfect, fringed edge. These are the modern cut-off shorts. This style of trouser works best when it is cut slimly and shapely to fit the leg snugly. You want a straight, slim fit. However many women who favor a more casual look prefer to wear their knee length shorts baggy. This look can be successful if you pair the looser fitting, masculine trousers with a feminine top such as a camisole. Because the baggy style hides everything practically down to your ankles, it is a good idea to showcase some of your body’s finer points in other areas. Cinch a baggy waist with a stylish belt that will show off your hips. Tuck in a tight girlie t-shirt to the pants and voila – you’re feminine again.

Many celebrities have been creating their own knee length trousers by rolling their denim jeans up beyond their calves. This look can be pulled off by the confident few and those with a great pair of calf high boots. Boots with a high heel are crucial in pulling this look together because they elongate the leg. Make sure the boots fit slimly over the calf and are more snug than the trouser roll they uphold. Pair these trousers with a great belt, a cool t-shirt, or one of the gotta-have-it outerwear items of the season such as a knit poncho or a cropped tweed jacket. Throw on some sunglasses and people on the street will be turning their heads to look at your knock-out appearance.

Men are also wearing the knee length trouser look stylishly. Many men have always found both shorts and capris a bit too feminine for their taste. Enter the knee length trouser. This style looks great on any man. Whereas women typically wear the look tightly and figure hugging, men most often wear the look baggy. The trousers usually fall just below the knee. Some men cut off old pants to create an imperfect fringe for a hem. This works on corduroys, jeans, khaki, and canvas pants.
